Cathedral Rock is the first objective of our Dianne Hoff led Mountaineers party setting off to climb Cathedral Rock and then Mt Daniel - a two-fer - a welcome result for someone trying to get in enough climbs to complete the basic course. Ahead of me as we approach Cathedral Rock is a cocky gentleman with a jaunty step who is listening to some music in his headphones. I catch up and ask, "What are you listening to?" "I'm trying to learn some Russian." "ohh." His name is Roy McMurtrey and I like his attitude, especially as displayed later that night when we camp above Peggy's Pond.
