This is Mt Defiance as seen from Pratt Mountain with Mason Lake below the peak.

I once hiked to the top of Mt Defiance and was quite thrilled to see from the entries in the summit register that Ira Spring and his wife had signed in only a week before my visit.

In April of a high snow year I spent several days running the ridge from Mailbox Peak toward Mt Defiance. There were sizeable cornices on the north and east ridges. As I neared Mt Defiance the weather warmed and cornices started ripping loose. I decided that it was time to bail. After gettting down to I-90 I was able to catch a ride down to Truck Town and call my wife to come and get me.
