PAUL BUNYAN'S STUMP PAGE UNDER CONSTRUCTION

I climbed Paul Bunyan's Stump along with 4 other peaks (Colonial, Snowfield, Pinnacle Peak and Pyramid) on a three-day Memorial Day weekend in 1987. (Wish I still had that kind of 'get-up-and-go') After climbing Snowfield I returned via the saddle just south of Paul Bunyan's Stump which put me in a good position to 'exit saddle left' and start right up the Stump. My climbing route followed a line of least resistance and ended up taking me on a corkscrew route to the summit. After descending I went through the saddle north of the Stump to do Pinnacle Peak. Then it was down to stroll out to Pyramid's summit thus completing a satisfying four-summit day. Then it was back to my camp on the Colonial Glacier, pack up and head down trying to reach the trailhead by the appointed time of 9 pm. I was late by a half hour and found that my arranged ride back to the Colonial Creek Campground had not waited for me. So I had a 4-hour highway slog from the Pyramid Creek TH to the campground on top of a 4-summit day. Not a single vehicle came by as I trudged the blacktop. I don't think I have ever been so exhausted in my life...
