As I approached Big Snow the snow was too deep for me to make out the trail from Lake Dorothy so I improvised. It was late in the day and the threatened snow soon began to come down - hard. Time to look for a camp spot before I get any higher on the mountain. Through the murk I can make out a treed spur that might provide a safe spot. The snow is coming down so fast that I am worried about avalanches. When I get up to the spur I can see that the saddle that connects the spur to the main mountain will be an ideal spot to shield me from avalanches coming down off Big Snow's northern slopes. After pitching my tent I drift off to sleep to the 'WHUMMP' sound of almost continual avalanches all the wile feeling very safe and secure.

More later.
